BMM Amicus Curiae Committee

The Amicus Curiae (Latin for 'friend of the court') was established with the aim of submitting so-called 'amicus briefs' or written opinions to national or supranational courts and tribunals, as well as to the EUIPO, in cases relevant to the BMM community. Like the Amicus committees of similar professional associations such as Marques, APRAM, ECTA and INTA, the BMM strives to defend the interests of its members and the IP sector, particularly where legal issues of significant importance may affect legal practice in the Benelux.

The external regulations of the Amicus Curiae Committee contain detailed rules on the role and independent position of the committee, the cases eligible for intervention and certain procedural aspects, including the criteria for submitting a request for intervention and the time limits.
